ABOUT DR. bala

Vikram A. Bala, DPM, is a fellowship-trained podiatric surgeon specializing in advanced reconstruction, including total ankle replacement, ankle and foot arthroscopy, deformity correction, minimally invasive surgery, sports injuries, and trauma. Dr. Bala is originally from Philadelphia, PA, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Neurobiology and Physiology at the University of Maryland in College Park, MD. He received his degree in Podiatric Medicine from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Bala completed a three-year residency in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery at the University of Florida Health in Jacksonville, where he served as Chief Resident. He then completed an additional one-year Fellowship in advanced reconstruction in Northeast Ohio under the tutelage of Dr. Jonathan Sharpe. There, Dr. Bala focused on rearfoot and ankle deformity correction and reconstruction, emphasizing Total Ankle Replacement, sports medicine, and trauma. He is certified in various total ankle systems as well as ankle arthroscopy. Dr. Bala has a special interest in treating athletes of all levels. He works closely with athletic trainers, physical therapists, and coaches to quickly get his patients back to their sport.

Dr. Bala is a devoted patient advocate who approaches patient care with an emphasis on patient education and the latest evidence-based research at Ankle and Foot Associates, located in Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. Bala practices compassionate service in every interaction, both professionally and in his personal life. He strives to create a partnership with his patients and believes the team approach will allow excellent patient outcomes. It is essential to Dr. Bala that his patients understand their condition and select the individualized treatment option that best fits their unique needs and lifestyles.

In his free time, Dr. Bala enjoys traveling and being out on the water. He has a growing love of golf and continues to play basketball competitively. He is a fan of all sports but has a deep passion for Maryland Terrapin athletics, the Philadelphia Eagles, and 76ers.
